“We are at a new horizon, beginning with the construction of a dramatic new river campus, the planning of our first baccalaureate degrees, and significant improvements to college governance, administration, program delivery, community engagement, and financial capabilities,” said Mark E. Scheinberg, President of Goodwin College. To commemorate these accomplishments, Goodwin worked with Dornenburg Group to create the first-annual President’s Report. The publication tells the story of an institution that is perpetually moving forward with a plan that is both ambitious and attainable. Every day Goodwin graduates are achieving success in their professional and personal lives, often overcoming tremendous challenges in the process. Approximately 80% are working while attending college and receiving some form of financial aid. Yet, Goodwin College excels at preparing its students for rapid advancement in a knowledge-based world. For example, last year Goodwin was second in the state, only to the University of Connecticut, in graduating nursing professionals. Likewise, Goodwin College continually expands and meets challenges as it grows. Many achievements of the past year illustrate how Goodwin College is already bringing its vision to life.
When Dornenburg Group began working with the Child Guidance Clinic of Greater Waterbury to develop a new brand identity, we found that every member of the organization’s senior staff and board embraced one statement about what their services provide: New hope through treatment and support. “Our goal was to help make a simple yet strong emotional connection between those who receive support and those who give support,” said Jeff Dornenburg, President of Dornenburg Group.  The private, non-profit was begun in 1951 as a local Waterbury program offering mental health services to fewer than 100 children per year.  It has now grown into a regional provider offering extensive and integrated services to thousands of residents in a 42-town area. Its focus on family wellness was also top-of-mind in thinking about a new brand for the organization. "Our new name, Wellpath, clearly states our mission: To put our clients on the path to wellness by promoting the well-being of children and families with comprehensive and innovative treatment and support,” said Gary Steck, Executive Director of Wellpath. “The demand for children’s behavioral health services in western Connecticut and across the state far exceeds the capacity of existing programs,” Steck said. “That is the single largest driving force behind our regional expansion and associated name change. We’ve evolved to address the changing needs of families in our communities. Now our name reflects that evolution.”
Dornenburg Group was a gold sponsor and designed the program book for the second annual statewide Heart Ball held to benefit the American Heart Association – Connecticut Chapter on April 5, 2008 at Mohegan Sun. “Last year, we raised $75,000 with about 250 attendees.  This year, we raised $210,000 with about 400 attendees,” stated Robin Johnson, Heart Ball Director.

The Urban League of Greater Hartford recognized Jeff Dornenburg with the Volunteer of the Year award at its annual meeting held on April 24, 2008. Jeff works with the Communications Committee of the Urban League’s Advisory Council to help build the organization’s identity, consistency and frequency in communications with its numerous benefactors and supporters. In developing projects with Urban League staff, Jeff enlisted and mentored the talents of several students from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford.  Dornenburg Group additionally provided pro bono services for the organization’s newsletter, web site and annual report.
